Welcome to New Hope School
FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING (FET) PHASE
FET phase teachers specialise in one subject in their field and play a very important role in the economy by preparing our young adults for higher education or the world of work. Therefore, learners’ ability to contribute economically and socially to the country depends on the quality of education they receive in the FET Phase.
We stay within the prescribed CAPS curriculum which covers Grades 10, 11 and 12 and work towards attaining the National Senior Certificate at the end of Grade 12.
A range of accommodations are available for our learners with barriers to learning. Strict Department of Education criteria and guidelines are used to apply for these support services.
Learners are given subject choice guidance in Grade 9 to support them and their parents in choosing from the following list of choice subjects:
- Business Studies
- Computer Applications Technology
- Hospitality Studies
- Visual Arts
A home language (English or Afrikaans), First Additional Language (English or Afrikaans), Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation are compulsory subjects to all FET learners in accordance with Government regulations.
